The Northern Soul Classic Orchestra

The Northern Soul Classics Orchestra takes you on a musical journey steeped in nostalgia yet bursting with timeless energy. Originating in the late 1960s, the Northern Soul movement was born from a passionate desire by British youths to unearth rare American soul records with a fast, Motown-inspired beat.

Rejecting the mainstream, DJs and dancers in Northern England championed these forgotten tracks, creating an underground scene that thrived on athletic dancing and a deep sense of community. Legendary all-nighters at venues like Wigan Casino, The Twisted Wheel, and Blackpool Mecca became cultural epicentres where fans gathered to “keep the faith” and celebrate the powerful music that continues to captivate music fans today. Our 16-piece orchestra, featuring a powerhouse 5-piece rhythm section, a massive 7-piece brass section, and four incredible vocalists, channels the true spirit of the Northern Soul era.
