Another historical day in The Plaza restoration

There are many historical moments in The Plaza’s restoration and today was without doubt one of those with the commencement of the removal of our Circle and Balcony seating as we commence the replacement of our entire auditorium seating with replicas of those in situe on The Plaza’s opening day on October 7th 1932.

Gary Trinder our Vice Chairman and Technical Director has painstakingly investigated the original style, colour and format of our auditorium seating which has been created by seating specialists Kirwin and Simpson and will be installed over the next two weeks.

Our magnificent volunteer team assisted today in the removal or our Circle and Stalls seating and regular updates will be posted on our ‘Restoration Update’ section so follow us as we bring Stockport’s 1932 Art Deco Super Cinema and Variety Theatre back to her magnificent fully restored condition
