Curtain Up!….Light The Lights!….The Canopy Lights are restored

With a flick of the switch and following the painstaking hard work of our magnificent Technical Team, the canopy chaser lights have now been fully restored and will enhance the facade of The Plaza with lighting that replicates the scrolling marquee lighting that was originally installed in 1932.

With modern adaptations to the installation which have the appearance of the original lamps that graced our canopy on the opening day of The Plaza Super Cinema and Variety Theatre on October 7th 1932, the scrolling lighting enhances our canopy ‘Readograph’ that lists the titles of forthcoming shows and highlights Cafe and Venue details in this latest stage of our continued restoration and ongoing maintainance of our much loved Art Deco gem.
